Xtratec, Construction Material Testing
Our Services

Xtratec Ltd has supplied various services to laboratories and projects throughout the UK including experienced technicians and material testing expertise.

Below is an outline of the type of services we can provide.

Technicians

We are now running the Gatwick NWZ Laboratory for Carillion with five to six staff working on the PQ works and all soils works including chemical/water analysis sampling.

Xtratec Ltd has been providing technicians to various laboratories around the UK. We currently employ six qualified staff on a full-time basis. Experience in soils, concrete and coring testing have proved to be an asset to many contractors requiring technicians for both long and short term projects.

We have staff working in Glasgow on the Bathgate - Airdrie project testing the material extracted from the old existing railway and if proved to be compliant with the chemical analysis specification will be re-used back into the works under method compaction control.

Laboratory

On most projects we have access to the main contractors own laboratory. This allows us to comply with all site specifications and ensure a quick turnover of test results.

If a contractor requires off-site testing then we will provide technicians and vehicles to sample the materials and then contract the testing out to a fully accredited independent testing house.

Testing

We can carry out both laboratory and in-situ testing requirements for all soils and aggregates which include all recycled product classifications and chemical testing.

We are currently in the process of gaining UKAS accreditation for core cutting and inspections with DCP testing for UK Network contracts.

Assets

We have now purchased a Neptune coring rig to work alongside our smaller Vulcan rig for all existing and future coring projects.

We currently own three 4x4 Mitsubishi site vehicles allowing us to access most types of terrain likely to be found on any construction site. In addition we also have two Astra vans for more day-to-day tasks such as site visiting and transportation of samples.

Recently we took delivery of a coring rig specifically for use on the Gatwick North West zone works for runway coring with the possibility of purchasing another dependent on workload. This will allow us to carry out bituminous road investigations on any site.
