Xtratec Ltd has worked on various construction projects
throughout the UK. These projects have included rail, road and
tunnelling operations.
Below is an indication of the type of projects we have
undertaken.

Xtratec Ltd had been directly involved on the CTRL 320 Thames
Tunnel Project in Swanscombe Kent. Works involved piling, structural,
pre-cast concrete sampling & testing and coring of the laid
material prior to tracks laid through the 2.5km length of tunnels.
Xtratec also worked directly with the tunnel department producing
method statements for the control and use of the grout production
prior to insertion behind the tunnel rings on the TBM. We also
monitored all earthwork materials, both imported fill and site won,
from the tunnel spoil. This was then tested for contamination &
grading analysis for site approval and then used and tested with
method compaction control methods.
Xtratec Ltd currently supplies staff and coring equipment to the
highways agency on area 10 (A1+ contract) joint venture with Halcrow,
Colas and Costain. This is a new area of works for us and we aim to be
involved in more areas throughout the UK on various supply networks.
We also supply experienced technicians to Nicholls Colton for bridge
survey works around the UK. The works involve half-cell, chlorides,
coring and bearing shelf monitoring.
Xtratec Ltd currently supplies technicians for the Felixstowe South
Reconfiguration Project. Our technicians are currently aboard various
vessels offshore monitoring the as-dredged materials found both in the
Western Channel works (Site-won) and also from the approved dredging
areas off the coast of Gt Yarmouth.
Xtratec monitor and check the GPS track co-ordinates, drag head
depths and also sample the cargo throughout the loading process. Our
technician's opinions are linked directly with Westminster Dredging and
Costain and the material is then approved for either site use or to be
dumped in specific agreed dumping areas monitored by the EA.
Xtratec this year was directly involved with Van Oord on various beech
recharge projects. We supplied the full package to Van Oord on three
projects that involved lab equipment, staff and vehicles. Some chemical
analysis results were required and also concrete compressive strength
results.
The Carillion Gatwick NWZ project, at around £44 million, is now around
half way to completion and the Carillion laboratory is now staffed with the lab Manager,
five technicians with vehicles and coring equipment, all supplied by xtratec Ltd.
Xtratec Ltd has had direct involvement with the London City Airport
dock extension works. We supplied technicians to Carillion for the sampling
and testing of all materials including PQ, Pre-cast & Structural concrete,
all taxiway surface textures and surface regularity prior to handing back to
the client.
We have just been awarded testing work on the Gatwick Extension Works
for Carillion due to start in July 09.
